Instructions
Sweet Rolls
- Combine yeast, water, and 1 ½ t sugar in a bowl. Wait until it bubbles (about 5 minutes).
- Add melted butter, additional sugar, egg, salt and flour. Mix on medium with a stand mixer and dough hook (or regular hand mixer) until combined.
- Cover with towel or plastic wrap and let rise until doubled (1 hour).
- Once doubled, shape into 12 rolls and let rise again until double (20 minutes). Bake at 400 degrees for 10-15 minutes.
Cinnamon Rolls
- To make into cinnamon rolls, complete through step 3. Put 2 T flour on surface and roll dough out into a rectangle.
- Cover with ¼ cup softened butter, 2 T sugar and 1 t cinnamon.
- Roll up lengthwise like a jelly roll and cut into 12 sections with a sharp knife or floss. Let rise and bake at 400 degrees for 20 minutes.
- After cooled, combine icing ingredients and frost. The rolls can be frozen for up to three months unfrosted.
