The Relaxed Mama Football Game Day Party for Kids

In the last year, my boys have gotten into football. Playing, watching, make-believing—they’re all about it! This year, we’re letting them have an at-home mini kids party for the biggest football game of the year! In January, we printed off our playoff brackets, and each person in the family made their predictions as to who will be moving forward for each round. Since the biggest game of the year airs on the evening of a school night, we’re keeping things low-key but fun!

Who are you rooting for to win the biggest NFL game of the year?

Activities

I’ve got some fun activities for all age groups. You can set up some coloring stations. During commercial breaks, your kids can complete a football helmet coloring sheet for their favorite team, help the running back score a touchdown as they work through a maze, and of course, see who will win half-time bingo!

Food & Drink

Let’s be real: my kids are here for the yummy kid-friendly food items. We usually always have a fruit tray in the refrigerator to pull out and carrots/ranch. We’ll make food they’ll eat and be excited about.

BBQ Meatballs

Throw a bag of frozen meatballs, a bottle of BBQ sauce, and a jar of grape Meatballsjelly in your crockpot on low for a few hours, and you’ll have delicious meatballs ready to go for game time. My boys LOVE these.

Wrapped Mini-Hot Dogs

We buy the mini smokies (hot dogs), throw some in BBQ sauce, and wrap some in crescent roll dough. Put in the oven for 15 minutes, and they are delicious!

Football Food Sausage BallsSausage Balls

So tasty and kid-sized. This is my favorite recipe.

Football-shaped brownies

As a special “fancy” drink, the kids will probably want mini cans of Sprite and/or “Champaign” (sparkling grape juice).

Decor and More

Honestly, since this is an evening party with just our family, my boys probably don’t care about decorations, cute banners, etc.…but I’ll probably grab a cheap tablecloth and some football plates from the party store to add a little fun to the night.

Little brother will probably be put to bed by half-time and pajamas put in by the older boys (9 and 7) by the third quarter so they can scoot to bed at the end of the game. Lively times here for the biggest game of the year!
