The Westside District: A Community Guide for Families

Omaha Moms Blog is proud to present this community guide with Lynette Arrasmith from Churchill Mortgage and Shannon Salem from Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Ambassador Real Estate!
District 66

The Westside District, or District 66, stretches from roughly 72 nd St. to 114 th St., and from Blondo to F St. This chunk of Omaha contains some of the poshest neighborhoods, but also includes excellent shopping, dining, and entertainment.

Why Moms Love It

Westside District 66 is known around town as a high-performing school district. With ten neighborhood elementary schools, one middle school, and one high school, the Westside district serves over 6,000 children in the area. The neighborhoods in Westside District 66 are well-established with a variety of home styles, from 2-bedroom bungalows to sprawling mansions. Big trees and plenty of parks and green space invite families to play outside. Swanson Library sits almost in the middle of the area and provides amazing programs for kids of any age. Westroads Mall, Regency, One Pacific Place, and Countryside Village can meet your shopping needs. Centering around the main thoroughfares of Dodge Street and easy access to I-680 make getting around the city fast and easy.

Local Family Favorites

Parks:: The Swanson Arboretum, Regency Park, and Pipal Park all provide large green spaces, playground equipment, and big trees with lots of shade! Pipal Park is a “barrier free” park, designed to be completely accessible for children with special needs.

Pools:: Several neighborhood pools do require membership, including Regency, Rockbrook, and Sunset Hills. Camelot and Cryer pools are public, run by the Omaha Parks Department.

There are several unique shopping and dining opportunities
in Westside District 66.

Countryside Village:: This area in the Westside District is full of locally-owned shops, including Village Pomegranate, The Mix, Gramercy, and The Simple Man. You can also grab a coffee at Starbucks or The Village Grinder, get pampered at Stephanie Moss Salon or Dennison Dahlman (for the hubs!), grab lunch at Le Quartier or Swartz’s Deli, have a happy hour cocktail at Inkwell, Cedar, or The Casual Pint, and finish with an amazing dinner at Timber Wood-Fire Bistro.

Regency:: Formerly known as Regency Court, Regency is another one-stop location for shopping and dining in the Westside District. Restaurants include Paradise Bakery, Bonefish Grill, and locally-owned Mode de Vie. You can shop at Pottery Barn, Williams-Sonoma, Learning Express (free gift wrapping for birthday presents!), or bling up at Borsheim’s. Pamper yourself at Garbo’s Salon, Nails Spa Village, or the newly opened Drybar.

One Pacific Place:: The highlight of the Westside District for this mom is Trader Joe’s! The only location in Omaha, Trader Joe’s has great items (and great prices on wine!) to add to your normal grocery list. Wheatfield’s and Andres are both locally-owned dining options, and you can grab snacks for the kids or treat yo’self at Nothing Bundt Cakes or Red Mango.

With great schools, beautiful neighborhoods, and plenty of local shopping and dining, the Westside District 66 area is one of Omaha’s gems!
