See To Learn

Thank you to See To Learn and the Eye Care Council for sponsoring this discussion.

As hard as it is to admit — back-to-school is just around the corner.

The back-to-school dance of school supplies shopping and making sure our kids have decent fitting clothes and shoes to conquer their next grade level is upon us. Just as important as having the proper crayons is ensuring our kids are in good health. This year, don’t forget to schedule an eye appointment!

According to the Eye Care Council “80% of a childs’ learning ability relies on vision”. Some issues are obvious to parents–squinting, headaches, holding objects close to the face. But other issues are not as obvious and need to be identified by a professional.

Thankfully, there is a program called See to Learn. Created by the Eye Care Council, See to Learn is a preventative program to help make sure every child’s early education is unaffected by vision problems. Through the See To Learn program, parents can schedule their 3 year old for a FREE assessment. Visit their website to find participating optometrists in your area.

Thank you to Dr. Will Ferguson of Heartland Eye Consultants for talking with us about the importance of getting your kids eye health checked and telling us more about See To Learn and The Nebraska Foundation for Children’s Vision.
