Hello! My name is Kim Porath.
I am a California native who married a Nebraska boy, and now we call Omaha our home.
My family has lived in Omaha for four and a half years and this has truly become our HOME. When we moved to Omaha, my husband Ben was on active duty in the Army and we assumed this would be a two-year stint. Well…two kids later and Ben out of the Army, we are still here and can’t see ourselves living anywhere else! Becoming a mom shortly after moving here has completely transformed the way that I view a community and Omaha truly is a wonderful place for moms and families. We love how many things there are to do here, but at the same time we feel connected to the community with that “small town” feel.
Our oldest child, Levi, just turned four and our second, Adeline (Addie), is 18 months old. We are also expecting our third child in late July. Our kids are both so fun and sweet; it is such a blessing to be their mom. I absolutely love having the privilege to watch them grow and develop their own unique personalities. Everyday is an adventure! However, I’ve discovered motherhood is fairly isolating at times and can take a toll on mental health in a variety of ways. No matter how much we try to get out of the house and do things with other moms, it can be difficult to feel like we are accomplishing much when all we did that day was keep our kids alive (barely).
I am extremely excited to have this opportunity to contribute to the Omaha Moms Blog. I love connecting with other moms in the community and this will enrich that connection. I have a passion for fitness and training women through all seasons of life, but especially during pregnancy and postpartum as a pre/post-natal coach. I feel that this chapter of a woman’s fitness journey is a very important and unique one. I’m excited to lend my voice to this topic and provide quality information for readers that they may be able to relate to their own fitness journey, wherever they may be.
