Omaha Moms Blog :: Introducing Jennie

Omaha

Born and raised in small-town Nebraska, I never thought I’d raise children in Omaha. Back then, Omaha seemed like a BIG city. Now, having lived here for eleven years, I’ve come to realize it’s just a big small-town with all the wonderful amenities of a city. Even though we live in Elkhorn, about as far west as you can go, it’s just a short drive to anywhere in the city. Whether you want a leisure drive on a gravel road or a quick route from point A to B; a forest to hike through or a five-star restaurant; a quiet park or a loud rock concert; Omaha has something for everyone.

Mom

My husband and I have three wonderful children ages ten, seven, and five. Once upon a time, I worked outside the home, but have been a stay-at-home mom since having our second.

Our oldest is constantly questioning, debating, and rationalizing the world around us. He helps combat mommy brain (which never really went away!) and keeps me on my toes. Our middle child is pure, undiluted sunshine in human form. Her generosity is astounding, her ability to make a friend is marveling, and her giggles are completely contagious. Our youngest is a space-feign. She’s an astrophysicist in the making — only because she thinks it’s a little too dangerous to be an astronaut. These three can wear me out in an instant or energize me for an entire day, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Blog

I’m excited to contribute to the Omaha Moms Blog and connect with other mothers. Motherhood is challenging and can be isolating at times. The battles are endless and the mommy-guilt is strong, but having a group to connect with that understands what you’re going through can be empowering. As mothers, we need each other as much as our children need us; and let’s admit it, our children need us all the time! In our house, we’re past potty-training but not quite to middle school. I hope to provide perspective on this stage of motherhood, while tempering the anxieties of the stages to come.
