Omaha Moms Blog:: Introducing Erika

Omaha

I have lived in Omaha my whole life. I was born in South Omaha and then my family moved to Millard where I grew up. I now live in midtown and love being right in the middle of the city! I love that Omaha is not too big, but also not too small. It has the big city aspect that something is always going on, but the small town aspect of everyone being friendly to each other. I often hear people from out of town say they are always surprised at how nice everyone is. I love being a mom in Omaha because there are so many things to do! My family and I often attend the many free activities going on for families and we have memberships to the zoo, children’s museum, and Durham museum. There are also a lot of fun parks and playgrounds that we often take advantage of, which are common around the Omaha area.

Moms

I am mom to three kids. Macklin is five and will be attending kindergarten in the fall (I am still mentally preparing myself for that!). Everly will be three at the beginning of June and will start preschool in the fall. Henrik will be one in just a few short weeks and I am convinced it has been the fastest year yet. Motherhood brings so much joy to my everyday life. It is pretty crazy to have three kids 5 and under but our house is full of so much love. They are all still at the age that mom and dad are the greatest people to walk the earth and I get frequent hugs and kisses throughout the day. With that being said, there is always the chaos of it all. With having three so young, somebody always needs something or wants something and some days can make you feel really stretched thin. Thank goodness for forgiveness, the start to a new day each morning, and for coffee.

Blog

I am so excited to be a part of this new adventure of Omaha Moms Blog! I have always admired other women’s blogs and have thought about starting one but never got around to doing it. I love to write and I am a person who loves to connect with others. Being a mom is something I am so passionate about, so I am thrilled to have the opportunity to write about it. I bring a unique perspective through the life experiences of a high risk pregnancy, multiple miscarriages, having children close together and being a semi-stay at home mom. It is my hope that my words will resinate with fellow mommies all around the Omaha area.

  1. Great first blog, Erika! I look forward to reading more from you in the future. Miss seeing you! Have fun with your family this summer. Kids do grow up fast, don’t they? !?

  2. Hi, Erika! I remember the lovely, chaotic, days of three children five and under. It’s funny how these times are so sweet, so draining, and so exhilarating all at once. We often talk about memories from that time.
    I blogged during that time because I was afraid I would forget the details. And I did. My blog has helped me in that I can look back and share those funny, heartwarming times with my children. Blogging seemed like one more thing on my plate at the time, but a pint of Ben and Jerry’s helps with that! 😉

    • It is all of those things! I often have to remind myself how fast this time will go because it has already zoomed by. I too have started writing down those funny moments!

  3. It’s so nice to meet you, Erika! I’m a mama of three as well. It’s such a full and wonderful life!

  4. Erika- I have 4 boys under 6, so I understand the juggle of having so many so young! You are amazing for finding the time to write and offer your experience to others. Congrats!

    • Whoa! 4 under 6! I often describe it as wonderfully crazy, right? So glad you are following! Thanks for the support.

  5. Thank goodness for coffee indeed!! I can’t wait to hear more about your experiences; I’m glad I’m not the only nut to have 3 children under 5! 😉
