Omaha Moms Blog: Introducing Andrea

Hello!  I am Andrea, and I am very excited to begin blogging with Omaha Moms Blog.  I was born and raised in Omaha, then went off to college at Wayne, America!  After graduating, I moved back to Omaha to start my teaching career.  I met my future husband, and when his job search took him to Chicago, I followed after our wedding.  We lived in Chicago for about four years.  After having two kids in two years, we decided we needed to return to the Good Life!  We have been back in Omaha for almost nine years now, and have added a 3rd daughter to the family, too. I love raising my girls here in Omaha and showing them everything that makes this city great!

One of those great things is having so many other moms to commiserate share with.  Being a mom really is the best, hardest, most rewarding, and most challenging job in the world. It never stops, and just when you think you have one stage figured out, the kids have grown into a completely new phase! Having a network of support around us is the greatest gift, and I am excited to be part of this network, in particular. There are so many unique and interesting perspectives to read and learn!

Through this blog, I hope that my own unique perspective comes through.  I’m a full-time working mom, and I also call myself a “restaurant widow”.  Since my husband runs a couple of restaurants in town, his hours are crazy and I am flying solo with the kids many evenings, weekends, and holidays.  This brings some challenges that I think a lot of other moms face, too.  (It also brings an inside scoop on the local dining scene!) I hope I can help build up this network of support and encouragement, but also laugh at our daily shortfalls and find the humor and joy in the imperfections of life.  Lord knows there are plenty of those at my house!
