Omaha Moms Blog :: Introducing Amanda

Hello! My name is, Amanda, and I get the privilege to write for Omaha Mom Blog (OMB). I hope my experiences of my life and the great city of Omaha enlighten you or at least make you chuckle.

Omaha

I am a born and raised Omahan (I think I just made up a word). My entire immediate family lives around the Omaha area. We get together on a weekly basis to share a meal and catch up. Nebraska, Omaha specifically, is a great place to raise kids. The Midwestern values we are instilling in our kids is something most of us don’t even know we are doing. I love the diversity of activities to do on any given day in the Omaha area. When I tell people I live in Nebraska and they instantly think we live on a farm and then I get to tell them of all the great activities 20 minutes from my door!

Mom

I have four children, ages 14, 10, 6, and 1 year. To answer a few questions-yes, they were all by choice and yes, we are busy. I am also a school Speech-Language Pathologist by trade and I love all things education related. Since my kids are all at various ages we are involved in wide variety of activities. What I love most about my crazy crew is watching them thrive and experiencing life.

Writing for the OMB, what the what?!? How did I get here? The majority of my adult/mom life, I have gotten myself involved in lots of things because I have a hard time saying no. So when push comes to shove, I really don’t want to do most of these things. But this, the OMB, is exactly what my heart and mind needed, a place where I can share and interact with other moms who live in my city. I am so excited to be part of the OMB and cannot wait to tell my crazy story! Stick around for the ride, I know it will be great.

She keeps herself busy with church volunteering, scouts, chasing kids and being the PTO President. She is a Speech-Language Pathologist that took a recent job change after 16 years in the public schools to work at home continuing her Speech career. Although her kids are spread out, she loves finding family time and watching them interact with each other. She loves traveling, Netflix binges, and enjoying a cocktail or two. She is excited to write for the OMB and get to know her town better.

  1. What a small world, Amanda! I think I work in the same school as your awesome 14-year-old. It’s great to meet you!
