Short hair—it’s for me.
I cut my hair above my shoulders after graduating college, and I’ve never looked back. Sure, my style has changed over the years. I have had a bob, a lob, a short shag, and a handful of other cuts.
I find shorter hair to be quick and effortless. It is fun and flirty. And with the right hair accessories, it can be fresh and sassy. Let me show you four days and four different ways to take your short hair up a notch.
Some days all you need is a colorful headband to complete your look. Headbands and scarves are very trendy right now. They are easy to find in various styles and colors, and in my opinion, even easier to style. In this picture, I am wearing a floral cloth, full circle, knotted headband from Target.
Barrettes and Bows Galore
These are my go-to items. Simple hair accessories like barrettes and cute hair ties always make me feel more put together and complete. It is also a fun way to connect with your daughter (or in my case, my nieces). Find a matching set and feel connected to your little one all day. Both of these hair accessories in the picture are from Old Navy. I couldn’t resist the navy blue velvet bow. It was a great sophisticated, playful look.
When All Else Fails—Braid
When all else fails, a quick side braid gets the hair out of your face and adds a touch of uniqueness. A side braid is also a great disguise for hair that has gone one too many days between washes. While I don’t have any daughters, I learned at a young age how to French braid and have been braiding my own and others’ hairs since middle school. Don’t feel discouraged if you don’t know how to do fancy braids. You can easily do a twist with a few bobby pins and achieve a similar look.
With over a decade of experience with this ‘do, I am convinced short hair can be equal parts easy and fun. Grab your brightest lipstick and wear the chandelier earrings. Without hair in the way you can make bold choices.
