December 12th, 2014 is a date I will remember just as much as I remember her birthday. It is the day my Mom's worldly journey ended. Just a couple weeks before Christmas.
Over the years, as we have grown into “adulthood” (wow- that word makes us sound old) we have started our own holiday traditions with each other.

This is for the Mom that might not know that. This is for my daughter’s other grandmother. The woman who is a mom to me while knowing me enough to know that I’m my own mom’s girl through and through.
I’m super excited to be a contributor for Omaha Moms Blog because I can connect with other moms through my writing. Because of my husband’s work schedule, I am often doing the mom thing at home while he’s out of town, which leads to an interesting perspective.
Two years ago our family moved 25 miles north of Omaha, to Missouri Valley, for my husband Mike’s job. He commutes between Council Bluffs, Omaha, and Sioux City doing bridge and heavy highway construction (sorry about those road delays around I-80!). We love being part of the greater Omaha area and the ways both big and small communities have embraced us.
I have always loved writing. I remember as a child sneaking notebooks into my room at night in the hopes of writing the next great American novel. I am an introvert in person, tending to put up walls between myself and others. Yet, when I write I don't hold anything back.
I’ve lived in Omaha for about 7 ½ years. It took me a couple of years, but now I truly call Omaha my home. I love that you can get anywhere in 15-20 minutes and that every week there are trendy new restaurants and businesses popping up on every side of town.
